New Character Creation

Follow the steps listed below in order to help you make your first new character at Pantheon:

Choose a Race.  Consider all Starting Advantages, Purchasable Racials, Detriments, and Costuming Requirements when choosing a race.

  1. Starting Advantages:  Each race automatically begins the game with the Starting Advantages of their chosen Race.

  2. Purchasable Racials:  These skills can be purchased at the start of or at some time throughout the characters existence.  Purchasable Racials do not need to be taught, they can be naturally developed in-game as the character gets older and wiser.

  3. Detriments:  A Race must adhere to the Detriments of a chosen Race.  There is no exception to this rule, no matter what the character’s backstory entails.  These Detriments should be considered as well when writing a character backstory.

  4. Costuming Requirements:  Must be adhered to.  Costuming Requirement are considered to be part of the power balance in creation of the different Pantheon Races.  Typically Races that require more time and effort to costume are more powerful than Races that require less costuming.  Not adhering to Costuming Requirements is considered cheating.

  5. Races can be chosen from the following:

    1. Alfar

    2. Android

    3. Ember

    4. Goblin

    5. Human

    6. Kithaine

    7. Moonkin

    8. Sprite

    9. Stoneborn

    10. Fallen

    11. Tideborn

Choose a Primary Skill Path:

  1. Expert:  For the more agile fighters, merchants and physicians.

  2. Martial:  For the brutes and generals, typically front line fighters.

  3. Naturalist:  For the rangers, druids, and shapeshifters.

  4. Source:  For all things magical, no emphasis on physically fighting.

Spend Your Build:

  1. All characters start with 15 Build, no matter what Race or Path they choose to begin as.  Additional Build is earned by attending events, gaining roleplaying points, and service points.

Name your Character:

  1. This should be fantasy appropriate.  Be creative but keep in mind that Pantheon staff holds all rights to reject a character’s name based upon any number of factors should it not be appropriate.

Write a Back Story:

  1. Generally suggested to be 1-3 pages.  This ensures that the backstory is long enough that we can potentially send plot out related to your backstory, but not long enough that your character still has story and goals that he has not accomplished yet.  We love to see our player’s creativity and reward them by sending out stories and characters from and to advance their own personal story.  Consider some of the following questions to help develop your backstory.

    1. Where does your family come from?  Is it a city, a small town, a farm, etc…?

    2. Is your family wealthy or poor?

    3. If they are wealthy, how did they come to be so?

    4. If they are poor, were they born into poverty?

    5. How old is your character?

    6. How did they come to know their starting skills?

    7. Is your character part of an organization, do they owe their allegiance to a lord or ruler, or are they a loner?

    8. Is your character willing to steal to survive?

    9. Is your character willing to kill one person to save many?

    10. Is your character willing to break the law for the greater good?

    11. What lengths would your character go to, to further his own goals?

    12. What are your character’s eventual goals?

Make your Costume

  1. Always be conscious of your Racial Costuming requirements when making your costume as these must be adhered to in order to play your selected Race.

Choose your starting weapons and armor

  1. Each character may only begin the game with up to two weapons.

  2. Each character may only begin the game with up to ten thrown weapons, bolts, or arrows.

  3. No character may begin the game with more armor then they are capable of stacking together at one time.

  4. All weapons and armor will be subject to safety inspection before use. If the item is considered unsafe it will not be permitted in game.

Get your starting gems (this must be completed on location with a martial)

  1. Each character begins the game with 1 Sapphire, 5 Diamond, and 10 Emerald

Character Deaths

  1. If a character permanently dies, the player gains 20% of his Earned Build (not including starting) towards a new character.

  2. If a character is willingly retired, the player gains 10% of his Earned Build (not including starting) towards a new character.

Character Rerolls

  1. Players get one reroll and only on the next event after their first time playing a character. If they want to stay the same character history, they must stay the same name and race. They can change path. They can change skills.

  2. They keep the money and material possessions they've earned so far (or lost) from the previous event. Deaths carry over.

  3. New items and armor can be given to staff. They may/may not be brought out in game by staff.

  4. They can use all earned build to spend on the new character.

  5. If they change character history they are treated as a new character and create one as such they can spend all their earned build on their new character.

Things to Bring

  1. Since you will be spending the weekend in a camping environment it is important to bring weather appropriate clothing and lots of it to ensure that you will not run out of clean clothes to change into.  There is nothing worse than being stuck in a soaking wet single costume, underwear, socks, etc… after it has been pouring rain.

  2. There are cabins, but make sure to bring plenty of warm bedding. Most cabins won’t have electricity.  Some cabins do have fireplaces and these are allowed to be used as long as they are properly cared for and monitored.  But these fireplaces are not guaranteed so bring extra blankets and pillows to be safe.

  3. While there are no showers at Camp Rotawanis, it is suggested to bring shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, and other bathroom supplies.  There is a water spicket or gallons of water which can be used to clean yourself.

  4. We will continue the game during inclement weather, including rain, snow, and the like, with the exception of dangerous weather. While we believe that weather is a large contributor of the mood of the game, we here at Pantheon put safety first. Likewise, always come extra prepared, rather than under prepared. Additional clothing and costuming can be helpful.

  5. Players can store any food they bring in the camp cooler. Player food must have their name on the container. Any stealing of other players food will be taken seriously and the person stealing will be dealt with to the full extent of the law.

  6. We will have first aid kits at the event. Any player that has a medical condition that requires medication is advised tell staff about any of the medication they are required to have. This is completely confidential information that will not be disclosed. We care about the safety of our players and any conditions they might have.

  7. Out of game items will be stored in cabins in designated out of game areas. (Under bunks, marked areas, etc.) Out of game items are not permitted in the in game areas. (Bottles with labels, plastic bags, real life money, etc…) If you’re unsure if an item is in game appropriate or not, feel free to ask staff.

  8. It is important to inform staff about any emergency contact information you may have. If something might happen it’s good for us to have that information.
